Maintenance Knowledge & Technical FAQs
Keeping industrial equipment running smoothly is what we do best at Klackers Enterprise. Here’s a breakdown of some common questions our clients ask about maintenance — and how we tackle them:
What’s the difference between reactive and preventive maintenance?
Reactive maintenance is fixing equipment after it breaks, while preventive maintenance is all about scheduled servicing to stop problems before they happen and extend equipment life.
How does predictive maintenance reduce downtime?
Predictive maintenance uses real-time sensor data to spot issues early, so repairs can be planned before anything fails.
Why is condition-based maintenance becoming popular?
It’s smart and cost-effective — we only service equipment when monitoring shows it’s needed.
What’s proactive maintenance?
Proactive maintenance stops problems before they occur. This includes inspections, lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, and monitoring to keep machines running reliably.
What’s corrective maintenance?
Corrective maintenance happens after a fault or breakdown. It gets equipment back to normal, but relying only on this method can increase downtime and costs.
What’s risk-based maintenance (RBM)?
RBM focuses on the most critical equipment based on the risk and impact of failure — considering safety, environmental factors, operational importance, and repair costs.
Can maintenance really improve safety?
Absolutely. Regular maintenance helps prevent equipment failures that could cause hazards, especially in high-risk industrial environments.
How do you manage maintenance efficiently?
We use the IPSECA framework — Initialisation, Planning, Scheduling, Execution, Controlling, and Analysis — to handle inspections, repairs, and preventive work. For complex, high-risk tasks, we switch to the PMI framework for structured project management, then return to IPSECA for ongoing monitoring. This keeps everything safe, efficient, and reliable.
Why use a structured approach?
It gives planning, traceability, and control for every task — from small repairs to full shutdowns — ensuring maintenance is done safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
